Overview

Equipment can be upgraded using the required ores in order to enhance their attack or defense rates. All equipment can be upgraded except for the following:

  • Middle and Lower Headgears
  • Accessories
  • Any equipment that specifically says it cannot be upgraded

Upgrade NPC Locations

Each location has 3 NPCs:

  • Refiner: Upgrades your equipment
  • Ore Purifier: Purifies Rough Oridecons/Eluniums
  • Ore Dealer: Sells Phracons/Emveretarcons

Requirements

Different ores are required to upgrade different level weapons, and the same ore (Elunium) is required for all armors. All ores (rough/pure) can be obtained via drops from certain monsters.

  • ATK is the additional damage gained per each upgrade of the weapon
  • Bonus is the random additional damage (0 up to the bonus) per each upgrade of the weapon over the safety limit

Example:

A +6 Lv4 weapon will have 42 (6x7) fixed additional damage and 0-28 (2x14) bonus additional damage

Armors

Each upgrade on an armor contributes 0.66 (2/3) armor DEF, but will show as +1 in your status window. All the upgrades from armors are added together, and is rounded down (need confirmation) Question.gif to get your total additional DEF.

Example:

+4 Headgear adds an additional 8/3 DEF +2 Armor adds an additional 4/3 DEF Total additional DEF = 8/3 + 4/3 = 4 DEF (not 6)

+4 Headgear adds an additional 8/3 DEF +4 Armor adds an additional 8/3 DEF Total additional DEF = 8/3 + 8/3 = 5 DEF (loss of 1/3 DEF)

Whitesmith

Whitesmith's skill Weapon Refine will increase self-weapon refining chance by 0.5% per job level after job 50. At job 70 the smith has a +10% better chance to successfully refine a weapon than an upgrade NPC does. However, the skill only works on weapons.

Enriched Ores

Enriched Oridecon and Elunium can be bought from the JellyRO Item Shop. These ores enhance your chances of success when upgrading by allowing you 2 chances at success. Thus, if the equipment you're upgrading would've broken with a normal ore, an enriched ore would instead try a second time at upgrading before the equipment is broken. This system is DIFFERENT compared to iRO's Enriched Ore upgrade rates.

Upgrade NPC Location

Enriched Ores can only be used by a special NPC called Suhnbi in Payon (174, 138). All other upgrade NPCs will only use normal ores, so becareful!

Upgrading costs at this NPC are the same, except he will only accept Enriched Oridecon/Elunium as the refining ore.

Note that upgrading from +9 to +10 on a Lv4 weapon has a better chance of success with a Job Lv70 Whitesmith using a normal ore than using an enriched ore.
