Part 1: Crumbs of Sobbing Starlight


1. Read one the notification boards in one of the following cities:

  • Alberta: (35/241)
  • Morroc: (168/265)
  • Payon: (160/183)
  • Prontera: (147/305)
  • Geffen: (168/175)
  • Al De Baran: (54/223)

2. Visit Metz's house ((prontera 263, 275)) and talk to him.

3. Talk to him again and agree to help.

4. Seek out Arian in Morroc ((morocc 283/173)), he the rogue in the bottom corner ((morocc_in 115/154)).

5. He will ask you to bring items, one set at a time. (If you carry Fluff and Coral Reef although he only asked for Fluff he will take everything and you need to recollect the Coral Reef.)

  • 100 Fluff

  • You can drop the items in front of him to avoid trips to storage.

6. Speak to the young man Gaanan (morocc_in 114, 162) who stands next to him. Answer his questions the following way:

  • 1. Stranded on an island: Fourth option
  • 2. Stuck in a collapsed building: Fourth option
  • 3. Lost in a dungeon: Third option
  • 4. A murder is commited: First option
  • 5. The world is going to end: Fourth option (save the world)

7. Arian will reward you with 1 Crumb of Sobbing Starlight and Exp. 8. Look for Daewoon in (payon 130, 204). You need to walk three rooms south. Talk to him and beginn the test. If you fail you may repeat it. Answer following way:

  • 1. Option #1 Yes
  • 2. Option #2 I hate people who do that
  • 3. Option #2 I can't destroy such beauty...
  • 4. Option #1 Yes, of course!
  • 5. Option #1 Yes

9. Daewoon rewards you with 1 Crumb of Sobbing Starlight and Exp.

10. Enter the lower right Aldebaran building (aldebaran 223, 56). Sir Jore (aldeba_in 155, 101) should be living there. Bring him:

  • 10 Empty Test Tube
  • 2 Yggdrasil Leaf
  • 10 Green Herb

Hint: He can only be spoken to from 5 pm to 10 pm Server time, from 10 pm to 9:00 am he will snooze and from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm he will work.

11. Head to the Hidden Temple, you need to find Pleur on the second floor. You can choose to talk to Pleur (prt_maze02 57, 151) or teleport till you reach the hideout in the forest. (I suggest to do the latter, as talking to Pleur first has a chance to warp you back to floor 1.)

  • If entered the maze from prt_fild01: go up, down, left, right, down, up, left, up, up, left to reach the second floor.
  • If entered the maze from mjolnir_12 (suggested; one south of Aldebaran): go down, down, left, right, down, up, left, up, up, left to reach the second floor.

12. Talk to Gordon and select the second option.

13. Talk to Sir Jore again, respond with [Red Gemstone]. He'll reward you with the third 1 Crumb of Sobbing Starlight.

14. Enter the pub-like geffen building in the top right. (geffen 168, 170)

15. Call Jesqurienne (geffen_in 59, 74) a stuck-up and accept her challenge.

16. Talk to Aaron to begin the challenge.

17. If you succeeded, enter your name and receive the fourth 1 Crumb of Sobbing Starlight.

18. Visit the Casino in Comodo ((comodo 153, 97)) and talk to Dearles (cmd_in02 88, 51). Hint: This must be done between 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Servertime.

He wants you to collect artsy items, you must collect 11 points using items from following item pool. No item can be used twice.

19. He will challenge you to a dance test. Walk where the "hide" effect pops, try to predict it, make sure to boost your walking speed as much as you can (buffs).

20. Talk to Dearles for the fifth 1 Crumb of Sobbing Starlight and EXP.

21. Enter Alberta (alberta 93, 203) and look for Wealthy-looking Merchant (alberta_in 125, 101) on the first floor.

22. He sends you to his butler, Refined Steward, Mahatra (alberta_in 114, 178).

23. Deliver Stone to the Crusader, Leibech (yuno 330, 100).

24. Inform Refined Steward, Mahatra (alberta_in 114, 178).

25. Talk to his boss again, he sends you to his butler.

26. Refined Steward, Mahatra (alberta_in 114, 178) tells you to talk to the maid.

27. Maid, Seylin (alberta_in 154, 171) sends you to Aldebaran.

28. Talk to Alchemist, Melkaba (alde_alche 169, 162) in the Alchemist Guild in Aldebaran. He'll need following items:

  • 10 Royal Jelly
  • 20 Honey
  • 30 Bear's Footskin
  • 1 Hinalle Leaflet
  • 1 Ment
  • 1 Empty Bottle
  • 10,000 Zeny

Note: This may fail and you have to recollect the items.

29. After obtaining the Vigorgra, go back to Maid, Seylin (alberta_in 154, 171).

30. Deliver the item to Prontera Castle to Maruin (prt_castle 107, 58).

31. Talk to Maid, Seylin (alberta_in 154, 171), she rewards you with 3 Panacea.

32. Talk to the boss/Merchant. He'll grant you the sixth 1 Crumb of Sobbing Starlight and Exp.

33. Return to Metz in Prontera and talk to him. He'll give you the last 1 Crumb of Sobbing Starlight.


Part 2: The Complete Sobbing Starlight


34. Talk to Metz again and again. (Hint: Might take some time.)

35. Visit Engel Howard's building in geffen (geffen 138, 101) and talk to Lonely Looking Woman, Brenda (geffen_in 159, 48)

36. Talk to Cute Girl, Liana (geffen_in 171, 42) she'll give you a letter.

37. Her father can be found in the coal mine (mjo_dun02 88, 295). Give him the letter. He will ask you to bring the following:

  • 5 Mini Furnace
  • 2 Oridecon Hammer
  • 1 Golden or 989.png 1 Emperium Anvil

Note: The higher quality the anvil, the higher chance it'll succeed.

38. Bring his letter to his family in geffen (geffen 138, 101), talk to his wife.

39. Return to the Coal Mines and talk to Engel. If it succeeded, you'll get the Sobbing Starlight.

40. Go back to Prontera and talk to Metz.

41. He sends you to Geffen tower to find Annoyed Man, Dhota (gef_tower 118, 36) on top floor. Type in [Sobbing Starlights].

42. Talk to Laotan (umbala 163, 256) in Umbala. Hint: You need the Umbala Language Quest.

  • Mr. Smile.

43. Enter the Umbala dungeon and find a hut (um_dun01 129, 90). You can find Fastidious-Looking Guy, Cyon (um_in 27, 23) there. He needs items:

  • 10 Worn Out Page

44. Return to Metz.


Part 3: Ancient Document


45. Metz wants you to translate the document.

46. Head to Alberta, and get Fastidious Old Man, Frank (alberta 165, 83) a new pair of glasses at the local armor dealer.

47. If you gave him the glasses he will start translating, just keep clicking the NPC. It's an about 2% success chance.

48. Head west of Geffen and search for the telescope, wander around till an event triggers. Bring following items:

  • 4 Resin
  • 12 Stone Heart
  • 365 Coral Reef

49. You are teleported to Valhall to meet Sandra, speak to her. Receive Exp.

50. Talk to Metz again.


Part 4: Nifflheim


Warning: It is important that you read this part carefully as clicking on some of the quest NPCs will result in failure. Otherwise, you will be teleported back to Umbala.

51. Talk to Pleasant-Featured Lady, Serin (niflheim 313, 70). "Sure, go ahead" followed by "Sure, let's do it". The next answer will decide the path you walk:

A. Sure, why not? (Longer quest but receive Serin's Gold Ring as a reward along with some experience) B. Why should I help them. (Shorter quest)


Part 4a: "Sure, why not?" Help those souls.


A.1. Track down a kid, Alakina Anne (niflheim 169, 162)

A.2. Look for Cursed Spirit, Ashe Bruce (niflheim 350, 258). Select the pull and read the 3rd book. Select following answers: Klaatu, Verata and Nictu (written in white). (You will receive Witch's Spellbook if the curse is broken.)

A.3. Return Alakina Anne (niflheim 169, 162), ask "What can I do?" and head for Witch Tower. (niflheim 254, 191)

A.4. Walk to the piano and be warped to the witch room. DO NOT CLICK ON Witch, Kirkena (nif_in 188, 168)!

A.5. Walk near the witch. Give her the Witch's Spell Book and choose "There's a lost child here I want to help." You will obtain Wing of Crow. Hint: Only way to leave room is by Butterfly Wing, Warp Portal, or click her head and be sent to the Umbala

A.6. Walk near Alakina Anne (niflheim 169, 162).

A.7. Walk near her again.

A.8. Go back to Witch, Kirkena (nif_in 188, 168)

A.9. Talk to Serin, she will give you Serin's Gold Ring. Do not equip it.

A.10. Enter Nifflheim building (niflheim 187, 241) talk to Crayu (nif_in 105, 81). Answer the questions.

A.11. Depressing Man, Gen (niflheim 146, 241). Talk to him.


Part 4b: "Why Should I Help Them?"


B.1. Find a Depressing Man, Gen (niflheim 146, 241)

B.2. He sends you to the Witch (niflheim 254, 191) in Nifflheim. Walk near the piano and be warped to the Witch's room.

B.3. Walk near her. DO NOT TALK TO HER.

B.4. Go near the Cursed Spirit, Ash Bruce (niflheim 350, 258). Select the pull and read the 3rd book. Select following answers: Klaatu, Verata and Nictu (written in white). (You will receive Witch's Spellbook if the curse is broken.)

B.5. Back to the Witch (niflheim 254, 191). Enter the witches room by clicking on the speech bubble next to the portait in the 2nd floor (nif_in 139, 176), return the Witch's Spell Book to Kirkena.


Part 5: Proving Yourself


5.1. Walk near the witch twice.

5.2. Seek out Serin. Talk to her three times.

5.3. Go to the giant telescope next to Geffen, talk to Sandra.

5.4. Talk to Mad Man, Laichin (niflheim 102, 54). Pay him the 60.000 Zeny. Make a screenshoot/note his locations.

5.5. Head to the lowest Cave of Glast Heim (gl_dun02). Bring a level 4 weapon from before the 10.1 update. Click here for a list of pre 10.1 level 4 weapons. Keep the weapon in your inventory (not equipped). Search for your locations.

  • big 10 o'clock (gl_dun02 43, 251)
  • small 11 o'clock (gl_dun02 123, 230)
  • big 1 o'clock (gl_dun02 263, 267)
  • very small 11 o'clock (gl_dun02 118, 183)
  • big 4 o'clock (gl_dun02 273, 97)
  • small 6 o'clock (gl_dun02 138, 72)
  • big 7 o'clock (gl_dun02 19, 27)
  • big 5 o'clock (gl_dun02 268, 33)

5.6. Once there, click on the Mysterious Environment and it'll pop up with 3 types of message.

  • The mysterious energy flows out. However, the environment seems to be creepier.

Wrong sequence. Find another spot.

  • With the weapon you have currently, it's impossible to break the seal.

Wrong weapon.

  • It shakes but there isn't any further response. Maybe it needs a greater impact to be activated.

Keep clicking the Mysterious Environment.

  • Perhaps you need something more powerful. (while having a pre-10.1 update level 4 weapon in your inventory NOT equipped)

Keep clicking the Mysterious Environment.

5.7. Each broken seal will reward you with 1 Piece of Spirit. When you break the fourth seal, you'll get the Spiritual Whispers. Go back to Nifflheim and talk to Depressing Man, Gen.

5.8. He will send you to Queen of Dead. You'll pass a fountain, but don't click it yet. Keep moving upward and you'll find the Queen of the Dead, Lady Hell.

5.9. Talk to Lady Hell/Queen of Dead. She gives you Symbol of the Nine Realms. (From now on you can use the Fountain and convert Bottles into Cursed Water.)

5.10. Now you have two choices. Either give the Symbol of the Nine Realms to: A. Witch, Kirkena (requires defeating more monsters, but can bring friends to help) B. Pleasant-Featured Lady, Serin (requires defeating Incarnation of Dark Lord, aka 1 Dark Illusion, with NO help from friends)


Part 6a: Kirkena the Witch


6A.1. Visit Witch, Kirkena through the Bubble.

6A.2. She will give you Witch's Tonic and 5 Witch's Medal. With 5 Witch's Medal, you can bring 4 more partners in your party to assist you in defeating the quest monsters later on. You need to talk to the Witch to enter Serin's room before others can follow. In order for the others to help you fight, they will need to talk to the same gravestone that you do in order to get into the witch's room. They will need to have the seal on them. Do not let the extra partners lose any of the Witch's Medal, they will need to be returned.

6A.3. The Witch will warp you to Serin at the Unknown Area. Talk to her and chose "Stop her." You'll need to defeat these monsters:

  • 1 Dark Illusion
  • 2 Ancient Mummy
  • 2 Wraith
  • 5 Ghoul

Warning, you can fail the whole quest if you choose to let her go! You do not defeat the monsters, you disconnect or you agree to just let it go. Be careful.

6A.4. After defeating talk to Serin.

6A.5. If you fail*, the quest is over Nifflheim NPCs won't talk to you anymore.

Part 6B: Serin the Pleasant-Featured Lady


6B.1. Talk to Serin.

6B.2. She will send you to the Witch Room. Listen to her.

Warning: When it prompts you with the third dialog box with two options, if you choose the first option ("Alright, I'll let you go.") then you will automatically fail the quest. There is a 10 minute time limit on this battle. Every time you are kicked from the room due to a loss or a time out, there is a chance that you will fail the quest.

6B.3. Talk to Dark Lord.

6B.4. Defeat Dark Illusion.

6B.5. Talk to Serin.


Part 7: The Sign


7.1. Talk to Kirken.

Warning: DO NOT enter the portal inside Kirkena's room at this point, or you won't be able to turn back to get the EXP or finish The Sign quest.

7.2. (If you did 4a and 6a, optional, but needs to be done immediately if you choose to do so.) Go back to Serin (in Niflheim) and she will give you 500,000 base exp (1,125,000 VIP; 113 GX) if you return her ring to her (if you took the path that gave it). This must be done before talking to Lady Hell, otherwise Serin will tell you "....." and /sob or /... "..."

7.3. Talk to Depressing Man, Gen, head to Lady Hell. She won't say anything new.

7.4. Visit Sandra from the telescope near Geffen. She'll give the The Sign.

7.5. Go back to Prontera pass the Sign to Metz. He takes about 2-4 hours.

7.6. Take The Sign and bring it to Engel Howard (mjo_dun02 88, 295) to fix it. Come back after 2 hours.

7.7. Bring The Sign back to Metz.

7.8. Bring The Sign and Sobbing Starlight to Gen (niflheim 146, 241)

7.9. Gen will warp you to Lady Hell. Pass her the Sobbing Starlight, she will reward you with Lucifer's Lament.

7.10. Go to the Geffen Fountain and click on it to enter Geffenia.


Failing the Quest


There are crucial points through out the quest that can fail the quest forever. If this happens you can find a NPC next to Metz house, that allows you to reset the quest entirely. You lose any process and need to start from the beginning and collect the items again.

The crucial points are:

  • Click Nifflheim NPCs instead of walking into them. As clicking on some of the quest NPCs will result in failure. Otherwise, you will be teleported back to Umbala.
  • 4A 1. Warning: It is important that you read this part carefully as clicking on some of the quest NPCs will result in failure. Otherwise, you will be teleported back to Umbala.
  • 6A.3. Warning, you can fail the whole quest if you choose to let her go! You do not defeat the monsters, you disconnect or you agree to just let it go. Be careful.
