Intro
So you have decided to go the path of the bowmen?
I’m going to be direct this whole guide, so better to be ready. This is a guide mostly based from the Hunter/Sniper class, so DON’T expect me to explain the basics of an Archer and their skills.
The guide will be around just 1 uncommon build: the Beast Strafer.
From Zero to Hero
So I expect you’re new, lost, and with no gears at all. Don’t worry, Archers tend to be one of the easiest classes to level up once you have mastered them, all you require is a Bow and Arrows. The flexibility of the Sniper lets them be efficient on all aspects in the game: PvM, PvP and WoE, though, they’re more into the PvM aspect.
However, since I’m not going to explain the basics of an Archer, I’m going to leave this to the knowledge of the reader.
One good thing just starting off as an Archer is to do the Archer job Change quest, it’s not hard to do, The Archer Guild is located at the Archer Village (Outside Payon Dungeon, Top right corner) the only test you have to pass is to bring the Guildsmen some Trunks, he will measure the Trunks you bring to him, though. You’ll pass if you can hit at least 25 points with the trunks you pick up from Willows.
Fine grained trunk = 5 points
Solid trunk = 3 points
Barren trunk = 2 points
Trunk = 1 points
What will you receive as prize? Besides job changing into Archer, you’ll also receive a bow for you to start your adventure: The Beginner’s Bow!
Effects:
+20% EXP until level 80, 10% until level 95.
+400 HP
+20% ASPD
+5% Walking Speed
On a side note, this Bow is ironically one-handed for reasons I don't know.
*Once you job change into Hunter, you won’t be able to use this Bow anymore, be aware of this!
In the very end, it’s up to the player to decide if YOU want to be a hero or stay at zero, you require a lot of DEDICATION and PATIENCE to reach your GOAL if you really desire it, so NEVER miss it! (Applies to everything, Lessons for Life ;D)
The Beast Master: Beast Strafe
What the hell? Really, Auu, REALLY? You're ridiculous. Believe it or not, this build is insanely effective against BRUTE and INSECT monsters, to the point it can surpass skills like Double Strafe and Sharpshooting, even surpass Acid Demonstration against MVPs. What’s the magic about it? Hunter Link.
Beast Strafe can only be activated via Hunter Link, and it’s damage is HEAVELY affected by STR, yes, STR. The damage can be so much it can 1-hit-wonder certain monsters under the right conditions.
Beast Strafe can be only be used after Double Strafing, so it’s preferred to have both skills in nearby hotkeys. As well, the cool down of Beast Strafe depends of your ASPD.
What you need:
Your Sniper
And a Soul Linker.
Suggested stats: LV. 99/70, |
Skill Tree Original image |
Non-MVP gears: Head: Hunter’s Cap, King Tiger Doll, Baseball Hat. |
MVP/SQI gears: Head: Lord Kaho’s Horns |
On a side note, the more STR gears you can take the better, these are the most important to boost the damage, rather than ATK or DEX.
Building a specific bow (and example):
Preferably card your bows if they’re refined to +10, the best bows for carding are +10 Composite Bows.
To build one, you have to take in account the element and race of the enemy (and in some cases, the size). It will take me too much to explain how you can take a huge advantage from this (There is a guide in this Forum section about it), so to make long story short (and simpler): All you have to do is to is to card 2 cards that increase DMG against the element you’re fighting (for example, against Wind card Mandragora Cards) and 2 cards that increase the DMG of the race you’re fighting (for example, against Bug card a Caramel Card).
So you’ll have something like this:
VS Wind 1 Bug Monster Type = +10 Composite Bow [Mandragorax2] [Caramel x2]
Onwards the New World
A really nice leveling place for this build is the just-implemented Splendide and Manuk Fields, aiming against Every. Single. Monster. There.
The only way to access there is by doing the quest, so better get your questing spirit awake.
For mid tiers:
Splendide Field 03
For high tiers:
Both Splendide Field 03 and Manuk Field 03 (Careful, very mobby)
General tips:
- Use Ankle Snare to stop monsters from moving, place the trap infront of you, between the monster and you, and shoot away from a safe distance, let the monster fall on it and keep attacking until it dies.
>:( [][][][][] x[][][] :D
>:( = Monster
x = Trap
- D = You
- Double Charge Arrow or FW away if the monster is too close.
- Soul Link only lasts 5 minutes, be aware of this.
- Priest buffs are optional.
- AVOID GETTING HIT. USE ANYTHING, I MEAN, ANYTHING TO NOT GET HIT.
Splendide Field 03 Luciola Vespa (Aggressive if you’re under lv 99!) |
Manuk Field 03 Tatacho |
