TaeKwon Ranking Guide

Sup. Everything you need to know about taekwon ranking will be right here in this thread. From tips and hints in missions, to how to do it.

First things first: What is ranking? Well...
What it pretty much is, is you use a skill called Taekwon Mission, and it assigns you a monster, you kill that monster 100 times and you will get 1 point. You will need as many points as the person in 10th place to kick them out of ranks, and replace them. Once you are in the top 10 list, you get to spam all of your kicks infinitely. And by kicks I mean whirlwind kick, axe kick, etc. You have to wait for the first prepare to proc and then you can spam as much as you want. You can't use 2 of the same kicks in a row or else the combo ends. Use /taekwon to find out the ranks and how many points you need to get to 10th place.
If you use taekwon mission while you have it 0% completed (which means you didn't kill any of that monster yet) then there's a chance you can get a new target (1%)
Oh yeah, did I forget? If you're level 90+ then you get triple hp, triple sp, and all of your skills will be unlocked and at max level. No more reskilling ever right? Haha! Yes. Don't let the level thing bother you, after killing 250k + monsters, you'll probably be level 90+
To check how many you killed so far out of 100, simply use the skill again.

Be careful though, sometimes you'll get a monster that has a different ID as other monsters but has the same name. For example, you might get a mission for kobolds, but you kill a bunch of kobolds and only the ones with the axe gives you the points.

For those of you who want to see what the endless combo kicking thing looks like:
Taekwon Ranker's Endless Kick Combo

Gears/stats:
As you know, Taekwons can't use weapons.
Everything else depends on your target. Rule #1 with TK gear, whatever stats you need, gear up for that stat. If you miss a lot, get more dex, and a kaho(or ramen hat), if you'd like more damage, get a meg(or bloody shackle ball). Since gears vary depending on how top tier or low tier you are. Once you're a ranker, it might be a good idea to get some aspd for faster infinite-kick spamming.
Gee that was easy!

Spurt Mode!
There's this awesome hidden buff (that's what I call it) called spurt mode. Have you ever been playing on your TK and you look on the right side of your screen where the buffs are, and you see a little running man? That's spurt mode.
Spurt mode is activated when you use level 7 or higher running, and then stop immediately. You will get a +10 str boost +(10*SkillLV)% to your kick skills. It's really fun with Flying Side Kick, believe me.
Note: You can't activate spurt mode on soul linker, but you can on an SG. Your weapon just has to be off. What any of this has to do with TK ranking? I have no idea. But It will come in handy some day so keep it in mind.

While spamming Taekwon Mission
It can get really boring. Honestly. But what you can do if your target is taking forever to change, is restat, and set everything for dex and the rest into agi. You could get a clown for bragi/sinxsunset song buffs(I recommend bragi, or flashing sinxsunset then bragi) or you can get a dancer to use "Service for you" to increase your max sp and lower your sp consumption.
If you're too lazy, you can...
  • Watch tv while spamming (but be careful to spot when your target changes)
  • Listen to music and try to hit the beat with the skill spamming (sounds lame and I have never done it but it's worth a try right? No one will know :D You know... unless they're Jesus or something and comes up to you while you're spamming in an odd pattern and is like YOU'RE SPAMMING TO JUSTIN BIEBER! What this has to do with TK ranking? Absolutely nothing
  • Here's my favorite: Browsing shops while spamming. Yes it's a weird little bug maybe? That I found. You can use TKMission with a shop window on your screen.
  • Go to pvp and watch everyone die, or other stuff. Only if you can handle going to pvp and not get kosed. And then you'll be tempted to switch chars and kill them back, and then you'll be in a kos war with them. But hey that'll give you something to do right?

IMPORTANT!

www.ratemyserver.net will be your best friend during your hunt for points! I promise you! Most of the time, you need to look for monsters with high spawn rates, and a monster that you can actually handle. A pretty big problem you'll have sometimes is not enough spawns on the map, so make sure you look at that number! If it's a monster you can't handle, you could always bring a friend or something.
Remember that once you've killed that targeted monster, you can never reset it and you'll have to finish it by killing 99 more.
Just another little note: You can make a lot of money trying to make a TK ranker, believe it or not. You won't believe the awesome stuff you'll get killing the same monster 100 times.

Other tips:
Sometimes you'll get an easy monster, like say a picky. Just run around the map and FSK it, since it'll die in one hit. You'll get the point in a few minutes if you do that.
It will take a few, to several months to get ranked with the current points. Depends on how you are, so some of you might get tired/bored of it. So keep someone hostage so you don't get lonely, and remember to motivate yourself.

And that ends my guide! I'll be adding more/organizing it as time goes by.

By the way, if you didn't know after reading all this: Yes... Taekwons can rank too.

I haven't said this yet, but there's no way to check how many points you have yet. The only way you know is to either keep track on your own, or be on the top 10 list and type /taekwon. Or the easiest way, finish one mission, it will tell you how many points you have total.

Spamming TK mission is easier than that... just wear 2 berzes and get bragi and another taek/linker/SG, add pharaoh midhead if you have one, I dont remember needing to restat for sp (prolly if youre not ranked you'd need to tho), doesnt take long to get a new monster.

I just logged a clown, a linker sitting and my Taek, so when you use up all your SP just sit and spam /doridori to regain SP pretty fast w/o spending 1k on a doctor heal

Maybe add something about event and special mobs that can trick you when they come up as a target. I know you gave the Kobold example, but there's some monsters that don't even show up at all ingame.

For example the monster Picky. On this server there are two Picky Monster ID's - one regular spawn, and one that was used in an event a while back. Getting the event target means no matter how many regular pickys you kill, you'll never get a point because the monster ID is different.

Other monsters I've found like this include:
-Anacondaq
-Agav
-Alarm
-Ancient Mummy

While some monsters have Quest specific IDs, Meaning they will only spawn when prompted by a quest. Since you can only do most quests once, you'll probably never be able to kill 100 of these mobs, making them impossible.

-Alice type monsters in the Kiel Quest have different ID's than normal.

I'll add more when I find them (Which, with my luck - I often do.)

Edit: Also - got a Marc card today while hunting Phen. Lucky.
