Main server downloads don't work.

Here are some mirrors you can try:

Installer is corrupt.

Unfortunately, you will need to download the installer again.

If you are not confident in your own internet connection, we suggest that you try one of the following:

  • Use a download manager (http://freedownloadmanager.org) to download the file again. This software will allow you to resume broken downloads.
  • Download the torrent. You will need a torrent program. Here's how to get started.
  • Head outside to your local hotspot (library, cafe, etc) and download the installer again using a connection other than your own.
  • Ask a friend with a faster connection speed to download it for you. Remember to return his/her USB drive!

There are no torrent seeders.

Be patient, or give a shout out on Forums, Facebook, Twitter, or IRC.

"Files are missing for installation/Setup needs next disk."

You need to download all parts on the download page and place them in the same location, otherwise you won't be able to install the client.

Can I download the Small Installer instead of the Full Installer?

No. The Small Installer does NOT contain all the files required to run AnesisRO if you have never played Ragnarok Online before. It is NOT a no-frills version of the Full Installer.

For experienced users, if you already have kRO and Ragnarok Renewal files installed, you may use the Small Installer as a conversion installer. BGM Files are not included. (The Full Installer is still recommended for those who don't know exactly what they're doing.)


Patchers

Where and what are they?

These 2 patchers are found in your AnesisRO folder. They are named:

  • Patch_kRO (or rsu-kro-rag-lite.exe)
  • Patch_Renewal.exe (or rsu-kro-renewal-lite.exe)

You will need to run all three patchers (ie. AnesisPatch, Patch_kRO, Patch_Renewal) in order to be entirely up to date.

Nothing comes up on screen.

This is an error that occurs on Vista machines. Just keep clicking on it... <.<;...
Sometimes right clicking and Run as Admin can help.

When it's done patching, and you've opened the game client proper: Open your Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) to close the other existing anesispatch.exe's. To avoid frustration at each launch, replace shortcuts to anesispatch.exe with Anesis.exe.

The patcher is blank/won't patch.

Download the appropriate patcher from one of the mirrors and replace into your RO folder.

"Failed to get 'xxx.rgz' or 'xxx.gpf'."

  • Make sure your clients are completely closed out before patching.
  • Wait a few minutes and then try again. If your connection is unreliable or slow, you can individually download the Manual Patch where your patcher fails. Drag the file into your RO folder and run the patcher again.


Connection

"Failed to connect to server/Rejected from server."

  • Wait several minutes before trying to log in again. Multiple wrong login attempts will usually temporarily lock the account.
  • Check on Forums, Facebook, Twitter, or IRC to see if there are any major updates you need to patch for or if the server itself is down/having issues.


Client

"Audio System Init Failed."

  1. Run Setup.exe and change the sound settings until they work.
  2. Make sure your sound drivers are updated/installed correctly.

"Cannot init d3d OR grf file has a problem."

Start setup.exe and change your resolution, and/or disable fullscreen.

If you cannot change the resolution, i.e. the list box is empty, then your video card drivers are missing, which you will then need to reinstall them. Find out the name of your video card, then go to the site of your manufacturer and look for the drivers, or simply google the name and add 'driver', and you'll most likely find them.

"Cannot find File."

These errors begin with Cannot find File, SPR, ResourceError or CPaletteRes. It means that you are missing sprite or palette files.

  1. Make sure all clients are closed while patching.
  2. Patch your client using anesispatch.exe.
  3. Patch your client using patch_kro.exe.
  4. Patch your client using patch_renewal.exe.

"AI.lua error."

My client won't open.

  • There is a possibility that Anesis.exe has been quarantined by your antivirus.
  • Right click and try running as administrator or troubleshooting compatibility.

My screen is stuck in Full Screen.

  1. Open opensetup.exe in your RO folder.
  2. Click on the ROExt tab.
  3. Unclick Lock Window.
  4. Apply your settings by clicking OK.

My screen is tiny.

You see a tiny bar of a window that can't be resized and crashes when you try to close it.

This is a Windows 7 problem that sometimes occurs when you first install aRO. I just encountered it while doing a fresh install a few days ago. -- Adellie (talk) 13:20, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

  1. Open opensetup.exe in your RO, in Administrator Mode
  2. Click the Reg Icon in the bottom left.
  3. (Optional) Apply your desired settings.
  4. Apply your settings by clicking OK.

My screenshots look funny.

Run the Setup.exe application and change the resolution. Otherwise, an update on your graphics driver is needed.


Lag and Disconnection

I'm lagging really badly.

  1. Check to make sure your internet connection is working properly.
  2. Check to make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements for the game.
  3. Check your time to make sure it's not 10am CST server time, as the lag that results at that time is due solely to our ISP. Come back and play later.

If many users are experiencing lag, you can help provide information for the technical staff in the Lag Log.

I can't dual/multi client.

If your second screen freezes when you dual client:

  1. Turn off User Account Control if using Windows Vista or Windows 7.
  2. Disable fullscreen in the setup.exe in the RO folder.
  3. Make sure your computer is able to support multiple clients.

My character keeps crashing/Gravity Handler Error.

Make sure you've patched all three patchers: anesispatch.exe, patch_kro.exe, and patch_renewal.exe.
